Synopsis:
Manual therapy is often criticised on social media, and yet many patients and therapists find it useful in day-to-day practice. What is happening - does it work or doesn’t it? In this lecture, we will look at the evidence behind manual therapy and see how we can bring it into the 21st century.
Biography:
Dr Christopher Norris is a Chartered Physiotherapist (MCSP) who qualified from Pinderfields College in 1981. He gained a Masters degree (MSc) in Exercise Science (physical habilitation) from Liverpool University in 1988 and a Doctorate (PhD) from Staffordshire University in 2009. His PhD research was on spinal rehabilitation. Chris holds postgraduate certification in both Occupational Health (cert OH) and Orthopaedic medicine (MSOM).
An experienced acupuncturist and dry-needling practitioner, Christopher Norris trained in Western acupuncture in the 1980’s with the Society of Biophysical Medicine and gained an advanced certificate in Chinese Acupuncture from Renshu College in London in 1999. He is a member of the British Acupuncture Council (MBAcC) and has been an advanced member and tutor for the Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapists (AACP) since its founding years.
