Synopsis:

The foot and ankle are complex structures which vary from individual to individual. Understanding how the foot and ankle complex works is essential for any professional involved in treatment or human performance. The evidence relating to foot function and biomechanics has evolved significantly over the last 40 years. This session will explain the functional anatomy and biomechanics of the foot and ankle simply and clearly. Attendees will gain a clear insight into how feet and ankles become injured and how multidisciplinary treatment is essential in delivering consistent patient outcomes

Biography:

Simon Dickinson is a Consultant Orthotist and Medical Director with over 25 years of experience in lower-limb biomechanics and orthotic care. He regularly lectures internationally on biomechanics, known for simplifying complex clinical concepts into clear, practical applications. Simon is widely respected for his work with both amateur and professional athletes, delivering expert care for sports injuries and musculoskeletal conditions. His engaging teaching style and clinical insight have made him a sought-after speaker at national and international conferences. He recently invented the “MOD Matrix” to guide clinicians and research into foot orthosis design.
