Joining the SMA as a Student member is as easy as 1, 2, 3!

Make sure your qualification is eligible for SMA membership.

Check our list of qualifications we know are definitely eligible
Check our list of accredited schools
Check our list of schools delivering ineligible qualifications
OR: email us with details of where you are studying if you are in any doubt!"

Make sure you have evidence that your course meets our minimum requirements on teaching.

PLEASE NOTE: since December 2021 we have not be accepting new applications from anyone studying towards qualifications awarded by Focus Awards at any level as their course content does not meet the National Occupational Standards for Sports Massage Therapy. Focus Awards are aware of our decision.

If you already hold a Level 3 qualification and intend to work carrying out treatments with this qualifcation you will need to join as a level 3 therapist rather than student.
